MAYFIELD — Coveta Wiggins, 88, of Lynnville died at 12:25 a.m. Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at her home.

She was a member of the Lynnville Community Church and a homemaker.

She is survived by five daughters, Martha Davis of Memphis, Tenn., Mary Lou Colburn of Dyersburg, Tenn., and Christine Campbell, Jackie Watkins and Pam Cherry, all of Mayfield; two sons, Gerald Boyd Wiggins and Richard Lynn Wiggins, both of Lynnville; 21 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren, and nine great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bonnie “Pete” Wiggins; three sons, David Wiggins, Garland Wiggins and Larry Wiggins; one daughter, Rebecca Jane Murdock; six brothers; two sisters, and four grandchildren. Her parents were Nora and Louisa Jane Doublin Dick.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2013, at Brown Funeral Home in Mayfield with the Rev. Bobby Peal officiating. Burial will follow in Rhode’s Chapel Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 p.m.-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2013, at the funeral home.

Curtis K. Craven
(Died February 29, 2012)

Curtis K. Craven, age 83, of Memphis TN passed away in his sleep February 29, 2012.

He was a retired engineer for the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad and a Mason. Mr. Craven was a US Air Force Korean War veteran and a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Mary D. Craven: daughter Brenda Smith : four grandchildren Jason Smith of Germantown TN, Justin Smith or Huntsville AL, Jessica Smith of Louisville KY Jordan Smith of Lakeland FL, two brothers Harlan (Sue) Craven, Bob (Patsy) Craven, both of Fulton KY and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jerry Craven and brother, Lynn Craven.

Visitation will be 12PM until service begins at 2PM on Saturday, March 3 at Forest Hill East Funeral Home with burial following.

MAYFIELD — Dale “Duck” Flatt, 75, of Mayfield died at 3 a.m. Tuesday at Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah.

He retired from General Tire & Rubber Company and was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church in Mayfield.

Survivors include his wife, Bettie Clark Flatt; two sons, George Flatt of Mayfield and Robert Flatt of Fort Worth, Texas; one daughter, Cammie Flatt Thomas of Jacksonville Beach, Fla.; one sister, Mignonne Carpenter of Jacksonville, Fla.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, M.D. and Hattye Townsend Flatt; and one brother.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Northside Baptist Church with the Rev. Monte Hodge officiating.

Frank 'Buddy' Dalton

Frank "Buddy" Dalton, 58, of Fulton, Ky., died April 1, 2005, at Parkway Regional Hospital in Fulton.

Services were held at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel in Fulton, with the Rev. Danny Potts officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery in Dukedom.

Dalton was born Feb. 19, 1947, in Shelby County, to the late N.C. and Rubye Frances Buck Dalton. He was a retired USDA meat inspector, former owner of Dalton Construction, had been an employee of the former Reelfoot Packing Co., and was a former co-owner of Dalton's Grocery in Kingston. He was also a farmer, operating Dalton's Hog Farm, and was manager of Priority Pork. He was a member of Mount Zion Old Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Trecia Pursell Dalton of Fulton, Ky.; three sons, Frank Dalton Jr. of Troy, Johnie T. Dalton of Dukedom and James Eric Dalton of Fulton, Ky.; a brother, Charles "Sonny" Dalton of Dukedom; and five grandchildren, Afton Slayden of Martin, Alexandra Dalton of Dukedom, Zach Buckland, Will Buckland and Tad Dalton, all of Troy.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Shirley Dalton.

Darlene Rozzell Flint, 72, of Mayfield died 10:15 PM Friday at her Sons residence. She was a retired employee from Community Hospital in Mayfield, and attended Cuba Church of Christ Church. Mrs. Flint is survived by; 3 sons, Mike Flint of Mayfield, Wayne Flint of Mayfield, and Alan Flint of Wingo; Brother, Dennis Mesler of Mayfield; 11 Grandchildren; 12 Great Grandchildren Preceded in death by; husband, Jerry Flint; Mother and Step father, Charlie and Rose Mesler; Great Granddaughter, Kyleigh Bennett Services are scheduled for 2:00PM Tuesday at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield. Mrs. Darleska Vincent Wright, 88, of Mayfield and formerly of Fulton, died November 29,2013 at Mills Health and Rehab Center in Mayfield. She had been a resident of this area most of her life.

She is a member of First Baptist Church of Fulton, a member of the Fulton's Womans Club, TOPS, WMU at First Baptist, Homemakers Club, previously worked for Henry I. Siegel and M. Livingston and retired from Puckett Oil Company as a bookkeeper.

She is survived by three daughters, Lydia (Stanley) Puckett of Mayfield,KY, Cecelia (Jim) Baker of Waco, KY, Debbie (George) Wilder of Paris, KY, two grandchildren, Cindy (Wayne) Quertermous of Grand Rivers, KY, and Sheila (Randy) Bonds of Hickory,KY, five great grandchildren, Jennifer Henson and Justin Chappell both of Paducah, KY, Austin Burnett, Hunter Bonds, Megan Bonds, all of Hickory, KY, three great great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren and a brother Richard Vincent of Sturgis, KY.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Harding Wright, her parents, Bruce Eddings and Pernie Yates Vincent, three brothers, Charles Vincent,William Vincent and Bruce Vincent, Jr. and two infant great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel with burial to follow at the Pilot Oak Baptist Cemetery. Friends may call the funeral home from 11 a.m. Monday and until the funeral hour.

David Clinton Thompson

David Clinton Thompson, age 59, of Prospect, KY and formerly of the Fulton/South Fulton area died August 6, 2014 at the Jewish Hospital in Louisville, KY.

He was born in Fulton, Kentucky on March 5, 1955 to parents Charles and Beverly Thompson. He graduated from Fulton City High School in 1973 and received a degree in Pharmacy from The University of Kentucky College of Pharmacy in 1978.

He retired in May from Jewish Hospital, where he worked as a pharmacist for 34 years. He was a member of Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity, the Veterans Drug Club, and the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. He was an active member of St. John United Methodist Church. He loved playing basketball, cheering on the Wildcats, and tinkering with anything he could get his hands on, but most importantly he loved his family. He was a dearly loved son, brother, Daddy, Granddaddy, and friend.

David is survived by his father Charles, his sister Sandra (Jerry) Joyner, his brother Maxwell (Donna) Thompson, his children Alison (Mark) Johnson and Andrew (Sarah) Thompson, his grandchildren, Samuel Kincaid Johnson, Claire Madison Thompson, Lydia Kay Johnson, Andrew David Thompson, Jr., and Charles Edward Thompson, and is a beloved nephew and uncle to many.

He was preceded in death by his mother Beverly Coulter Thompson.

Funeral service will be held at the Hornbeak Funeral Chapel on Monday, August 11 at 2 pm. Interment will be in the Greenlea Cemetery in Fulton. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5-8 pm on Sunday and anytime after 8 am Monday until the hour of service.

A memorial service will also be held on Friday, August 15 at the St. John United Methodist Church in Prospect, KY at 2 pm. Visitation will be at the church from 1 pm until the hour of service.

HOUSTON — David G. Puckett, AIA, died on Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at the age of 53 in Houston. Born August 11, 1953, in Fulton, Ky., he served as a Congressional Page for the 91st and 92nd Congresses and was awarded his Eagle Scout badge on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives. He was a graduate of South Fulton High School as a salutatorian, earned a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Tennessee School of Architecture and Design and a Masters of Architecture, cited with honors, from the School of Architecture at the Royal Academy of Architecture at the School of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, Denmark.

In the seventh grade, he studied the pyramids and John Glenn going to space. From that time he knew he wanted to be an astronaut and architect. He moved to Houston, the home of NASA, and joined The Klein Partnership (now FKP Architects, Inc.) where he focused on translating the art of architecture into healthcare design. In addition to his professional career, he contributed his energy to several community interests including being a founding member of the Houston Ballet’s Ambassadors II; serving on the Board of Directors of the Houston Chapter of the American Institute of Architects; the AIA Healthcare Committee; the Texas Governor’s Commission of Aging; helped to organize what would become The Bering Omega Foundation, Stone Soup Kitchen, Houston AIDS Foundation; and was proud to accept a commission from the Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky to join the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.

David is survived by his parents, Runelta “Dinky” Hopkins Puckett and Charles Glenn Puckett; his brother, Daniel Gene; his sister, Rebecca “Becky” Jo Puckett Marshall and her husband, John; and his nieces, Kristina Leigh and Sarah Elizabeth Marshall. Special thanks to his friend, Hernan E. Gonzalez, for his care and devotion.

A Memoriam Choral Evensong service will be at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church at 5501 Main Street, Houston, TX 77004. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Terry Jay Thompson, the Rev. John Fellers, D.D., and the Rev. Ronald D. Pogue, D. Min.

CUBA, Ky. - Deloris Edwards Redden, 98, of Cuba died at 1:27 a.m. Sunday at Murray-Calloway County Hospital.

She was a retired bookkeeper and the oldest member of Cuba Baptist Church.

Mrs. Redden is survived by two daughters, Jan Stewart of Cuba and Cheryl Williams of Eads, Tenn.; one stepdaughter, Martha Tubeville of Pilot Oak; 11 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Fulton Reed Edwards; her second husband, Alton Redden; one daughter, Rita Suiter; one stepson, David Redden; and one brother. Her parents were Ray and Zella Carpenter Fisher.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Byrn Funeral Home with the Revs. Bob Waldridge and Glenn Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in the Cuba Community Cemetery.

Mrs. Owen died Thursday at Western Baptist Hospital.

She was a member of Sedalia United Methodist Church, retired from Heritage Manor Healthcare and owner of the Farmington Cafe in the 1960s.

Surviving are two daughters, Peggy Hengy of Farmington and Carolyn Autry of Mayfield; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one niece; and two nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters. Her parents were Lloyd Roberts and Cora Webb Roberts Mathis.

SEDALIA, Ky.--Services for Jerry Stewart, Graves County Democratic Party chairman, will be at 11 a.m. today at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield. The Rev. David Hardy, the Rev. Charlie Simmons and state Sen. Bob Jackson will officiate. Burial will be in Cuba Cemetery.

Mr. Stewart, 59, of Sedalia died at 1:18 p.m. Thursday at Jackson Purchase Medical Center in Mayfield from injuries suffered in a farming accident.

He was remembered Friday as a dedicated public servant. "He was a hard worker for Graves County and all that was good and right," Jackson said.

County Attorney Gayle Robbins praised Stewart as a person who always wanted to help people. "I found him to be a fine person and always a gentleman," he said.

"We are going to miss him," said Judge-Executive Tony Smith. Stewart was a regular at the Graves County Courthouse. Smith said he talked to him almost every day for the past 17 years. "We had a lot of good times together," he said.

Stewart served as the liaison for Gov. Paul Patton for western Kentucky and was a Graves County commissioner from 1985 to 1997.

He was a member and former president of the Kentucky Association of Counties and a member and former president of the Kentucky Magistrate Commissioners Association.

Mr. Stewart was a member of Pilot Oak Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Jan Stewart; his daughter, Lana Wade of Sedalia; two brothers, Lynn Stewart of Pensacola, Fla., and Glen Stewart of Mayfield; one grandson, Kye Wade of Sedalia; and one uncle.

Mr. Stewart was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. His parents were Charlie and Violet Hicks Stewart.

Mr. Hill died Thursday at his home.

He was a member of New Salem Baptist Church and worked for several river barge companies.

Mr. Lamb is survived by his mother, Joyce Thomas Lamb Carter; three sons, Rev. He is survived by his wife, Kathy J. Mohler Pritchard of South Fulton; his mother, Frieda Reed Pritchard of Mayfield; two sons, Jeremy E. Pritchard of Martin, Tenn., and Joshua David Pritchard of South Fulton; a sister, Marlene Crowder of West Viola; two brothers, Cody Pritchard of Union City, Tenn., and Tim Pritchard of West Paducah; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse E. Pritchard.

Don Ann Gossum Taylor
WINGO — Mrs. Don Ann (Gossum) Taylor, age 75, of Owensboro, Ky., formerly of Wingo, Ky., and Mayfield, Ky., passed from this life surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, September 21, 2013, at 6:52 p.m. at the Owensboro Regional Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, September 26, 2013, at the Brown Funeral Home in Wingo, Ky., with Bro. Ray Bowles officiating. Burial will follow in the Jones Cemetery near Wingo, Ky.

Friends may call from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at the Brown Funeral Home in Wingo, Ky.

Mrs. Taylor was born on December 17, 1937, in Graves County, Ky., the daughter of Willard and Naomi (Hopkins) Gossum. She married Vernon Taylor on May 14, 1955, in Corinth, Mississippi. He preceded her in death on January 3, 1995.

Surviving are her son, Terrel (Lorrie) Taylor of Monticello, Il.; her daughter, Cathy Collins of Owensboro, Ky.; her mother, Naomi Gossum of Mayfield, Ky.; three brothers, Doug Gossum and Jeff (Pam) Gossum of Mayfield, Ky., and Joe Gossum of Marietta, Ga.; a sister-in-law, Sue Gossum of Littleton, Colo.; a sister-in-law, Brenda Taylor of Wingo, Ky.; her aunt, Murl Sisson of Wingo, Ky.; grandsons, Derek Taylor of Monticello, Ill., Chad Taylor of St. Paul, Minn., Taylor (Shelby) Collins of Owensboro, Ky.; stepgrandchildren, Ricky (Mia) Collins of Owensboro, Ky., Dana Carty of Dawson Springs, Ky.; stepgreat-grandchildren, Hunter Collins, Houston Collins, Hagan Collins, all of Owensboro, Ky., and Andrew Carty of Dawson Springs, Ky.

Don Ann was also preceded in death by her father, Willard Gossum, and her brother, Greg Gossum.

Mrs. Taylor was a member of the Walnut Memorial Baptist Church in Owensboro, Ky. She worked at Garan Clothing in Clinton, Ky., for many years. After Garan closed she decided to pursue and receive a degree in health information technology from Draughon’s Junior College. Her children were so proud of this accomplishment. Don Ann loved to be with her family and never failed to express her love for them. Rest in peace, Mom.

Mr. Donald “Pete” Edward Dublin, 86, of the Bell City community passed away Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Spring Creek Healthcare in Murray, KY. He was a member of the Bell City Baptist Church; and was a retired TVA employee. He was also a Veteran of the U. S. Air Force.

Mr. Dublin is survived by his daughter, Lori (Dwaine) Burnett of Murray; sons, Jeffrey Don (Beverly) Dublin and Kris Dublin, both of Sedalia; brothers, Artell Dublin of Shurtz, TX and Hal Dublin of Longview, FL; his sisters, Henrietta Shepard of Jacksonville, FL and Starlon Langham of Mayfield; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sunny Sue Dublin; daughter, Kelly Sue Dublin; and parents, Henry Kirksey and Burlie Ann Hall Dublin.

Services for Donald “Pete” Edward Dublin will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 7th in the Byrn Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Presley Lamm officiating. MAYFIELD — Donald Lee Byrd, 66, of Mayfield died at 1:30 a.m. Thursday, December 5, 2013, at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn.

He was of the Baptist faith and retired from Goodyear.

Mr. Byrd is survived by one son, Gary Lee Byrd of Mayfield; one brother, Wayne Byrd of Latham, Tenn.; three sisters, Dottie Brewer of Gleason, Tenn., June Williams of Graves County and Carolyn Speight of Michigan; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy Dean Melton Austin, 84, of Mayfield passed away at her home on Wednesday, December 5, 2012. She was a member of Northside Baptist Church and the Graves County Genealogical Society. She was a homemaker and also worked at the fountain at J.J. Newberry.

Mrs. Austin is survived by one son, Ralph Allen (Linette) Austin of Draffenville; two daughters, Elizabeth Carol Arnold (Philip) Cecil of Grand Rivers and Deborah Ann Austin (Bobby) Gilbert of Mayfield; one brother, William Hunt Melton of Fayetteville, NC; seven grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ocus and Aubrey Elizabeth Henderson Melton; her husband, C.F. Austin and her son, Russell Keith “Rusty” Austin.

Mrs. Dorothy Gordon, 83, of Rives died 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Brother Larry Hitesman and Brother James Kinsey will officiate. Burial will follow in Stanleys Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Gordon was born November 8, 1926, in Weakley County, daughter of the late William Wesley and Gladys May (Tate) Glover. She married Richard Gordon on September 8, 1959. He survives. Mrs. Gordon had been employed as a nurses aide at the former Obion County General Hospital and a machine operator at the former Salant & Salant and the former Gurien Finishing Company. She was a member of Sunswept Baptist Church.

She is also survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jerry T. and Delores Moore of Rives; her sister, Shelby Mayhall of Fulton, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Jerry Moore Jr. of Clinton, Kentucky, Charles Moore of Rives, Larry Gene Mills of Florida and Regina McCaully of Beaumont, Texas; eight great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Barbara Burton; her sister, Evelyn Moore and her brother, Glynn Glover.

The family will receive friends at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gus Everett Yates and Novella Lee Warren Yates; four brothers; and one sister.

Mrs. Vaughn died at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at her home.

Dr. Walker Marshall Turner??

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. ? Dr. Walker Marshall Turner, formerly of Paducah, died Wednesday, March 29, 2006, in Englewood, Colo. He was born June 19, 1913, in Wickliffe, Ky., the son of Henry F. and Caroline McDowell Turner. He moved to Paducah in the early 1920s and was educated in the public schools, and graduated from Augusta Tilghman High School. He attended Southwestern in Memphis, which is now Rhodes College. He graduated from the Medical School of St. Louis University and trained in St. Louis City and County hospitals before coming to practice medicine in Paducah in 1950.

Dr. Turner served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during World War II, attaining the rank of captain. He served one year in Africa and one year in Italy. He had one brother, Henry F. Turner, who was killed in World War II.

Dr. Turner came to Paducah to practice general surgery in 1950, practicing here for 25 years. He was the first elected Chief of Staff of Western Baptist Hospital when it opened in 1953. He was a member of the A.M.A., Kentucky Surgical Society, Southern Medical Society and American College of Surgeons. Dr. and Mrs. Turner moved to Colorado in 1996.

Dr. Turner was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, serving as both deacon and elder. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Lalla Byrn; five children, Dr. W. Marshall Turner Jr. of Denver, William P. Turner of Prescott, Ariz., Emily T. Knight of Chicago. M. Caroline Turner also of Denver, and Henry F. Turner of Crownsville, Md.; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Memorial services are planned in Englewood. A service in Paducah will be held at a later date. Friends who wish may make memorial contributions in Dr. Turner?s name to either the First Presbyterian Church of Paducah or Lourdes Hospice.

Mr. Vancleave is survived by his sister, Doris Cobern of Martin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lisson and Ruthie Jones Nanney.

Mr. Vancleave was a retired truck driver for Argo-Collier truck lines and a member of Broadway Baptist Church. Mr. Vancleave was a member of Martin Masonic Lodge 551 and an Eastern Star.

U.S. Veteran Eldon Gerald "Jerry" Elliott, age 77, of South Fulton,TN died July 6, 2009 at 1:36 p.m. at the Western Baptist Hospital in Paducah, KY.

He was the administrator for the former Hillview Hospital in Fulton, KY for 20 years. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving in the Korean War. He served for 20 years and was a Master Sergeant. He was also a member of the V.F.W. He had lived most of his life in Obion Co., TN and in Texas.

He is survived by his wife Shirley A. Stewart Elliott of South Fulton, TN, a daughter & son in law, Loyce and Bruce Barker of South Fulton,TN, 3 grandchildren Adam Barker, Lauren Wade and Reid Barker, all of South Fulton,TN. Also 2 sisters Betty Cory of Boone, Iowa and Rita Clark of Des Moines, Iowa, and 2 brothers Harold Elliott of Jefferson,Iowa and Richard Elliott of Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Flora Buswell Elliott and several brothers and sisters.

Mrs. Estelle Vincent Brooks of South Fulton died Saturday at the Volunteer Community Hospital in Martin TN.

She was a member of the Smith Street Church of Christ and was a seamstress for the former H.I.S. in South Fulton TN. She had lived all of her life in Graves County KY and South Fulton TN.

She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Billy W. Brooks of South Fulton TN, two daughters, Patsy J. Shelby of Sedalia KY, and Nancy K. Gatewood of Martin TN, five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents W.D. and Ada (Cruse) Mills, four sisters and two brothers.

Mr. Burkeen died Wednesday at Murray-Calloway County Hospital.

He was retired from the Murray State University Housekeeping Department.

Mrs. Alderdice was a poet and a founding member of the Kentucky State Poetry Society; a former member of the 7th & College Church of Christ, and formerly with the Mayfield-Graves County Homemakers Club.

Mrs. Alderdice is survived by a son, James Kim Alderdice of Mayfield; three daughters, Karen Alderdice of Paducah, Linda Alderdice of Cadiz and Lisa Alderdice of Key West, Fla.; and two grandchildren, Michael Alderdice of Paducah and Hanah Jewel Alderdice of Mayfield.

She was a member of the McConnell Baptist Church and had retired from Kellwood Manufacturing in Dresden, TN where she worked as a seamstress. She had also taught school at Welch School in Dukedom, TN and Chestnut Glade School. She graduated from Martin High School and had lived all of her life in this area.

She is survived by her husband George Jasper "Jap" Elliott to whom she married August 9, 1947 of the Ruthville community, a daughter, Danna Williamson (Andy) of South Fulton, TN, two grandchildren, Sarah Nicole Hutchins of Fulton, KY, Tyler Elliott Williamson stationed in Okinawa, Japan, two great grandchildren, Tucker Alan Hutchins of Fulton, KY and Emma Brooke Williamson of Okinawa, Japan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer Houston Wood and Ila (Oliver) Wood.

He was a veteran with the United States Army and served during World War II. He worked as a farmer and a carpenter.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Magdalene Stone Wood of Benton, Ky.; a daughter, Donna and Lynn Cope of Benton, Ky.; son Eddie and Maggie Wood of Auburndale, Fla.; four grandchildren, Laura Pea and Jerilyn Lampkins, both of Benton, Ky., and Josh Wright and Chris Wood, both of Auburndale, Fla.; three great-grandchildren; and a sister, Verda Smothers of Benton, Ky.

Mr. Franklin Ray Rushing age 84, of Murray, Ky., died Friday, November 8, 2013 at the Murray Calloway Co. Hospital.
Mr. Rushing was born in Almo, Ky. on November 5, 1929 to the late Loy Rushing and Inez Coursey Rushing Thweatt.
In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by his step-father, Willard Thweatt, one brother, Edward Rushing, one sister, Katie Garner, and half-brother, Joe Pat Thweatt.
He was retired from the Murray Division of Tappan where he was also Union President. He was also a member of Hickory Grove Church of Christ. Mr. Rushing also trained, hunted and sold bird dogs for 60 years as a passion and business for him.
He is survived by his wife, Emma Rushing, of Murray Ky, to whom he was married on October 2, 1970, three sons, Charles Rushing and wife Teresa, Paul Rushing and wife Sandy, both of Almo, Ky, and Stan Rushing and wife Sheila, of McKinney, Tx., as well as four grandchildren, Julie Rushing, of Almo, Ky, Shawna Rushing Munger and husband Blake, of Almo, Ky, Chase Rushing, of Dallas, Tx., Shantell Jenkins and husband Eric, of Frisco, Tx., and one great-grandchild.

Fred R. Kemp Sr. was married to the late Jean Marie Kemp nee Verbiest)(08/08/26-08/07/86) and later in life was married to Lee Ella Kirby whom he preceeded in death. Mr. Kemp was the father of Fred R. Kemp Jr.of Kentucky, Patricia A. Lochard of Columbus, Ohio, and Connie Daily of Paducah, Kentucky. Mr. Kemp was born in Kentucky but spent much of his life in the Detroit, Michigan area where he served on the Detroit police force for many years. Mr. Kemp returned to Kentucky after his retirement with his wife, Jean and spent the remainder of his life there. Fred was an avid collector, enjoyed travelling and the outdoors. He had many wonderful stories to tell and was quite a consumate practical joker. He passed away on January 14, 1997 after a battle with lung cancer. Fred is sorely missed and loved by his family.

Mrs. Choate was a homemaker and a member of Arcadia United Methodist Church in Paducah.

She is survived by two daughters, Diana Lynn Bennett and husband, Clarence ?Cotton? of Malden, Mo., and Sula Kaye Davis and husband, Tom, of Roanoke, Va.; one son, Don E. Choate of Waverly, Tenn.; eight grandchildren, Christopher Bennett of Malden, Mo., Jeremy Bennett and wife, Julie, of Manila, Ark., Stephanie Harris of Cape Girardeau, Mo., Doug Schmittler and wife, Jodie, of Virginia, Anglia Pace and husband, Brandon, of Virginia, David Choate and wife, Daniela, of Mayfield, Chuck Choate of Mayfield, and Deborah Choate of New Orleans, La.; eight great-grandchildren; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James and Linda Lowry of Mayfield; cousin, Mary Jane Tullies of Ohio; and special friends, Fred Schmittler of Malden, Mo., and Virginia Davis and Betty Boggess, both of Paducah.

Thelma Finch, 79, of Greenville, formerly of Paducah, died at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Maple Manor Healthcare Center in Greenville.

Mrs. Finch was a homemaker. She volunteered in school events, 4-H, and scouting. She was of the Church of Christ faith.

She is survived by one daughter, Donna Slaton of Madisonville; one son, Henry D. Finch of Brandywine, Md.; one sister, Margaret Burkett of Big Stone Gap, Va.; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Finch Jr.; two brothers; and one sister. Her parents were Almus and Ollie Mae Cashon.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Paducah.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Tucker Funeral Home of Central City, and from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens.

FULTON, Ky. — Services for Patricia Ann Gattis Hill, 67, of Dukedom, Tenn., will be at 1:30 p.m. today at Hornbeak Funeral Chapel with the Revs. Stephen Webb, Debbie Webb and Robert Goodwin officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery.

Mrs. Hill died at 1:18 p.m. Friday in a one-vehicle accident on East State Line Road.

A native of Hardin County, Tenn., she was a homemaker and the author of Grany Tailes Childrens Stories. Mrs. Hill was a member of the former Palestine Methodist Church in Fulton and attended Good Springs Presbyterian Church in Dukedom. She served as league secretary at Jet Lanes Bowling Alley in Fulton for 23 years. Mrs. Hill volunteered at area schools and coached softball and basketball. She was past president of the Parent-Teacher Association at Cayce Elementary School and was a room mother.

Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Elgie Dick Hill; three daughters, Sandy Sadler of Dresden, Tenn., Kathy A. Smith of Hickman and Tammie Pilgrim of Gilroy, Calif.; one son, Dennis Hill of Dukedom; three brothers, Harry Gattis of Savannah, Tenn., Charles Gattis of Crump, Tenn., and Billie Gattis of Fort Smith, Ark.; one sister, Alta Bryson of Savannah; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Jerry Allen Hill; one great-grandson; three sisters; and two brothers. Her parents were Joseph Vester “Judge” Gattis and Ethel Margaret Brown Gattis.

Mr. Garry Lynn Jones, age 64, of Dukedom,TN died May 9, 2012 at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN.

He was a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Knoxville and was a chemical engineer for Texaco and Air Products. He had lived in this community all of his life.

He is survived by two sisters, Patsy (Charlie) Morrison and Debbie (Darrell) Mohr both of South Fulton, TN.

He was preceded in death by his parents Theron E. and Cena Mae (Foster)Jones.

Private graveside services were held at the Oak Grove Cemetery.

MAYFIELD, Ky. -- George Wesley Pritchard Sr., 92, of Mayfield died Saturday at his home.

Mr. Pritchard was a member of Sharon Baptist Church in Mayfield. He was a retired executive with Kroger Grocery and a World War II 8th Army Air Corps veteran.

Surviving are his wife of 70 years, Mary Elizabeth Lock Pritchard; one daughter, Elizabeth Ann Salmon of Farmington; one sister, Mignon Powell of Dundalk, Md.; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one son, George Wesley Pritchard Jr.; three brothers; and two sisters. His parents were James Sanford and Georgia Ann Pritchard.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Byrn Funeral Chapel with the Revs. Cody Pritchard, Jonas Taylor and Larry J. Salmon officiating. Burial will be at Sharon Baptist Church Cemetery with military rites.

OKEECHOBEE - George W. McAlister, a winter resident of Okeechobee, died Monday, March 16, 2009, in Raulerson Hospital. He was 85. Born Dec. 19, 1923, in Water Valley, Ky., he had been a winter resident of Okeechobee for the last 20 years. He was a boilermaker by trade and was a member of the Boiler Makers 169, Dearborn, Mich., Spring Lake Presbyterian Church, Masonic Lodge-Grand Haven 139, Michigan, visiting member of Okeechobee Blue Lodge, a 33rd Degree Mason, Buckhead Ridge Moose Lodge, Eastern Star, Scottish rite, Shrine's Club and Eagles. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann; four sisters; and a baby brother. He is survived by his daughters, Cheryl Anderson (Scott) of Sand Lake, Mich., and Robin Huckabee of Grand Haven, Mich.; grandsons, Brad W. Anderson of Grand Rapids, Mich., and Jonathon F. Anderson of Virginia Beach, Va.; granddaughters, Paula Chaney of Greenville, Mich., and Samantha Huckabee of Grand Haven; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Floyd McAlister (Verna) of Palmersville, Tenn.; sister, Ambra Armstrong of Wingo, Ky.; and companion, Joyce Smith of Okeechobee. The family received friends on Tuesday, March 17, in the Buxton Funeral Home Chapel.

MAYFIELD, Ky. — Gerald D. Wiggins, 75, of Mayfield died Saturday at his home.

Mr. Wiggins was a member of Sharon Baptist Church in Mayfield and Mayfield Masonic Lodge No. 369. He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from Western Kentucky Gas in Mayfield.

Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Shirley Redmon Wiggins; one sister, Betty Dowdy of Cuba; two brothers, Howard Wiggins of Cuba and Jim Wiggins of Mayfield; several nieces and nephews; and three great-nieces and one great-nephew.

His parents were Noble J. and Jennie Mae Crittendon Wiggins.

Services will be at noon Wednesday at Byrn Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Tony Steele officiating. Burial will be at Highland Park Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. — Glenda Marie Ford, 82, of Chattanooga, died Friday at Alexian Brothers Healthcare in Signal Mountain.

She was a homemaker.

She is survived by three grandchildren, Alisha Hennessee Fox and Chad Hennessee, both of Dunlap, Tenn., and Blake Hennessee of Hixson, Tenn.; and a sister, Geneva Bennett of Dukedom.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Robert Ford; and a daughter, Deborah Hennessee. Her parents were Herbert and Mattie Carr.

Graveside services were held at Good Springs Cemetery in Weakley County.
